With a style that’s distinctively their own, Soul Clap carve hip hop, funk, soul and disco into a modern house music sound. The Boston raised and NYC based DJ and production duo reach a decade of releases in 2017 and fabric 93 takes the baton from last year’s self-titled artist album and their 2015 EP with seminal funk legend George Clinton.
Soul Clap’s diverse approach to production shines through in their original tracks on the mix. Weekend At Barnies is a jazzy and emotive cut produced with fellow Crew Love members No Regular Play and John Camp. Their exclusive mix of I Gotta Feeling by Midnight Magic digs deep into the heart of dub. Lastly, Lonely C's (one half of Soul Clap) collaboration with Tom Trago, The Compass Joint is an epic journey, paying tribute to the legendary studio in the Bahamas.
Their selection is typically unconventional, from the soulful rhythms of Baltimore duo Life On Planets to Ken Gill’s rapturous house anthem, Love Moon, Soul Clap carry the tempo across musical styles, injecting magnetism throughout. More infos here
'It’s a huge honor to do a fabric mix and we wanted to make it special, and paint a picture of our eclectic musical world, but stay rooted in house music. We have so many memories at fabric and this mix represents the music that we play there, faster tempo, more electronic drums, deep and trippy sounds. But we still believe that mixes should be appropriate to listen to at home, on your headphones, or at an afterparty getting silly with friends; energetic, but always gentle.'
