Tod Louie & Solaris (Det Gode Selskab)

Tod Louie & Chris Solaris forged a relationship in the DJ booth. They’ve been honing their skills together for over a decade and have channelled their collective experiences into one of the most dedicated clubbing institutions in Norway, Det Gode Selskab.

Det Gode Selskab is an event series, a DJ collective and a label with a sonic profile that sits somewhere between minimalist soundscapes and emphatic grooves.   Tod Louie and Chris Solaris is a case of opposites attract that first led to them sharing the booth and laying the foundation for Det Gode Selskab. Tod Louie, a farm boy with a story that sees him playing on the same bill with Sasha and Astral Projection at the age of 13 in his own backyard, and Solaris the focussed facilitator. They found a kindred spirit in one another bonding over an eclectic musical lexicon that bounced from Ambient to techno, through Disco, Garage and House. They found an innate connection through their respective record collections, which they’ve sharpened to an esoteric sound as the figureheads behind Det Gode Selskab collective.

Between Tod Louie’s passion for creating incandescent club nights for like-minded people and Solaris’ curating skills, they’ve found a balance in the booth and the club context that has resonated throughout Oslo and beyond as Det Gode Selskab.   Imbued with a passion for the root...

Imbued with a passion for the roots of club culture and entrenched in a love for vinyl, Tod Louie & Chris Solaris have become prominent fixtures in the clubbing community in Norway.

From Det Gode Selskab collective they’ve established a scene that consists of a residency, a series of events, a festival and a label, and extends to satellite concepts, like their iconoclastic queer events they host under the Everysome banner.   Together they insist on an intricate attention to detail and from their extensive experience and knowledge, Tod Louie and Chris Solaris have become a multifaceted institution and versatile DJ duo on the scene. They’ve played alongside the likes of Sven Väth, Joe Clausell, Sonja Moonear, Mike Shannon, Isolée, Steve Bug and Eris Drew over the years. Whether they are entertaining an intimate audience or playing to a big room, they have an effortless affinity for the music, its audience and the dance floor.

Through the Det Gode Selskab label both Tod Louie & Chris Solaris have sharpened their efforts on production, establishing a state-of-the-art studio alongside fellow Det Gode Selskab artist Karl Fraunhofer in the centre of Oslo. The new beating heart of the Det Gode Selskab collective. Solo releases and collaborations have adorned their respective outputs, but the records are just one aspect of this DJ duo, who continue to pursue every aspect of club culture wherever they might find themselves.
